State Game Breeding Station “CHEKERITSA” is situated in the midst of the “Chekeritsa” woods stretching over the plain fields of Plovdiv. It lies about 22 km from the city of Plovdiv to the northeast and 150 km from the capital Sofia. The hunting area of about 2,100 ha is bordered on the western side by the lower streams of the Stryama River. The terrain is flat and the altitude varies from 150 to 170 m. The Station maintains mainly small game. Due to its typical features the region is a natural breeding place and one of the State Game Breeding Stations best specialized in Small Game Hunting – for PHEASANT, PARTRIDGE, ROCK PARTRIDGE, WOODPIGEON, QUAIL and TURTLEDOVE as well as ROE DEER and HARE. The average roe deer trophy is about 350 g and the Station record is 570 g.
