Velingrad is situated in the most picturesque parts of the western Rhodope Mountains – the Chepino valley. Its altitude is 750-850m. The resort is 130km on south-east of the capital Sofia. The climate is transitionally continental, with Mediterranean influence. The summer is warm and the winter is mild. The average annual temperature is 10°C (in July: 19°C).
