State Game Breeding Station “TUNDZHA” is situated in Tundzha valley from the southern parts of Eastern Balkan range up to the northwestern slopes of Strandzha Mountain. It covers a total area of 22,263 ha. The landscape is predominantly plain to hilly, with altitude from 105 m to 600 m (at Gradishte peak). The coniferous forests on the Balkan rage spurs consist of Austrian pine, whereas some deciduous species like Turkey oak, Italian oak and pubescent oak cover the slopes of Strandzha Mountain’s part of the Station. Nature is relatively preserved due to the presence on the territory of the station of the reserves ”Gorna Topchiya”, spreading over longos forests resembling jungle and “Koriya” covered by ash and elm forests. “Tundzha” is 400 km from the capital Sofia and 90 km from Bourgas Airport. The main game species here are: FALLOW DEER, ROE DEER, WILD BOAR as well as JACKAL and FOX. “Tundzha” is one of the State Game Breeding Stations best specialized in Small Game Hunting for PHEASANT. There are excellent conditions for fishing as well.
