| State Game Breeding Station “PALAMARA” is situated in the middle of the northeastern Bulgaria, in the heart of “Ludogorie” country, covering a total area of 11,827 ha. The relief is hilly to plain and the altitude is less than 350 m. Typical for the region are the deciduous (oak and beech predominant) and mixed forests, checkered with numerous game fields and surrounded by fertile agricultural areas. It is 130 km from Varna Airport and 430 km from the capital Sofia. Since its establishment in 1932 by King Boris III as a “royal hunting ground”, the Station has been used as a general base for breeding and resettlement of red deer in the country. “Palamara” provides selective hunting for RED DEER (stags, hinds and calves) and ROE DEER as well as WILD BOAR and HARE. From predators there are: WOLF, JACKAL, FOX and WILD CAT as well as FOUMART, BADGER and BEECH MARTEN. From feathered game there are: PHEASANT, PARTRIDGE, QUAIL, WOOD PIGEON and TURTLE DOVE. Due to highly professional selective hunting practices, trophies of red deer range from 6 to 12 kg, wild boar – 14 to 25 cm and roe deer – 250 to 450 g are obtained annually. |
