| State Game Breeding Station “OSOGOVO” is situated in the region of Osogovo Mountain at the foot of which is located the town of Kyustendil. Its total area is 16,812 ha and the relief is very rugged. The slopes at the upper parts of the mountain have a slight declination whereas under some water streams they are steep and abrupt. The altitude varies from 2,251 m at Ruen peak to 590 m at the lowest point in the town of Kyustendil. “Osogovo” is just 90 km from the capital Sofia. The climate is typically mountainous. The forests are comprised mainly of beech and Scots pine. The main game species are: ROE DEER and WILD BOAR. There is a HARE as well. The predators’ representatives are: WOLF, WILD CAT, PINE MARTEN, BEECH MARTEN, WEASEL and OTTER. “Osogovo” is one of the State Game Breeding Stations best specialized in Small Game Hunting – for QUAIL, PARTRIDGE, ROCK PARTRIDGE and WOODPIGEON. The roe deer trophies reach up to 350 g and those of wild boar – up to a length of 18 to 22 cm. |
