Stetlink Hunt

State Game Breeding Station “IZVORA” is situated in the Western Rhodopes Mountain and partly in the gorge of Devinska River. It covers total area of 9,370 ha. The relief is alpine and very rugged with an altitude varying from 800 to 1,800 m. Mixed forests dominate the local scenery with prevalence of coniferous stands. The distance to the capital Sofia is 200 km and 100 km to the airport near the city of Plovdiv. “Izvora” offers a large variety of game species. Particularly attractive is the hunting of a very rare low mountain WILD GOAT, the optimum population stock of which is about 200 animals. RED DEER, ROE DEER, WILD BOAR, MOUFLON and CAPERCAILLIE also inhabit the Station territory. Hunting of predatory species includes mainly WOLF, FOX, WILD CAT and BEECH MARTEN. The best trophies obtained in “Izvora” are: wild goat – 115.08 CIC points; wild boar – 131.46 CIC points; mouflon – 198.25 CIC points; red deer – 201.66 CIC points; roe deer – 108.57 CIC points.

Tourist information:

“Izvora” offers fishing at Devinska River, photo hunting and ecotourism. It arranges trips to tourist sites, natural and heritage landmarks like Trigradskoto jdrelo, the Yagodinska and Dyavolskoto garlo caves, the architectural reserve Shiroka laka village. In the winter months it offers trips to the pearl of the Rhodopes – the Pamporovo resort, which provides excellent opportunities for skiing.
